Don't Dream Of A Millionaire Mindset With A Minimum-Wage Work Ethic.

I read a quote by a man named Stephen..

It said... "Don't dream of a millionaire mindset with a minimum wage work ethic." Ouch. I immediately asked myself: Hyram.. are you working like a millionaire would, or like a person making minimum wage would? I've decided to let you guys into my life so that you could determine and make an honest assessment over your own lives to see if you are truly giving your all on your path to success.

When we look at this quote, we must understand that 'millionaire mindset' doesn't necessarily mean we are speaking of money; rather achieving the goals we desire. For many of us, the goal would be to create wealth for our families and our future. If this is you, here is where you will learn what will make a difference in your wallet, bank account, and most importantly, the position of your heart.

Many times without noticing, we create idols in our lives. Idols could be anywhere. Many people idolize money its self, or TV Shows, video games, gambling and movies, and believe it or not... the couch. Not the actual couch... but sleep & laziness. The world is constantly trying to take our attention away from the task at hand. If we can truly focus and release the idols from our lives, we can get closer to accomplishing the goals that we have set. Take a moment and think about the things that take you away from accomplishing your goals. Done? Now make a decision to say "no more." The idols need to go.

Next, we will talk briefly about excuses. We will begin with a few quotes by some great people; I hope they truly convict those of you who consistently make excuses.

When you’re good at making excuses, it’s hard to excel at anything else.
— John L Mason
He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.
— Benjamin Franklin
Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.
— George Washington Carver
A life that is defended by Excuses has become comfortable in defeat, it has settled for mediocrity and is destined for failure.
— Oscar Bonga Nomvete

That hurt....

And I am glad that it did.. because even writing that, it reminded me how important it is to stop making excuses and JUST DO IT. (Nike, this is not free promotion...) I once designed a shirt with a Clayton, a good friend of mine over dinner that said "Death to Flesh". The Bible talks about beating your flesh into submission... and that means literally denying your body, your mind when it wants to make excuses, when your body does not want to get up and go, and your being held back. The truth is, you can get it done. You can have a millionaire mindset. It's all about how bad you want it.

Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.
— Colossians 3:23 [AMP]

When you wake up tomorrow, ask yourself: Am I living my day for me, or am I living it to the best of my ability to glorify God, to help and support those that depend on me, to change lives, to set an example in the Earth.  You may lack the inspiration to become better and to work harder, but it is not too late to change that; let those you love, and your goals be your inspiration.

What's your why?

An old mentor of mine for years always used to tell me "What's your why?" That same mentor went from being a District Manager within a company to a Regional Vice President in just a few years, covering almost a third of the U.S.. In my room (and my office), I had a board along with my peers, that had pictures of the things that kept us going in life. Jesus has always been my #1, but I do have goals such as having a successful marriage with my soon to be wife, as well as owning multiple successful businesses with her, being fit and eating healthy, having the home I desire and the opportunity to travel around the world, being debt free. As I type this, I have a picture framed of my fiancé and I when we first met when she was just 18 and I was 20. That frame (although I love it, and she is just stunning in the photo!) reminds me of my commitment to be her provider and love her by being excellent. This MINDSET is not just about wealth. It is about having a mindset of pushing past every obstacle, and being the definition of excellence. Now, I encourage you to write down your "why", and what fuels you to keep going. Print some pictures and put them up on your wall, so when your day begins you may look and remember the commitments you have made... continue to make that decision to be excellent and the best, cutting out every idol, and every excuse.

Lastly,

Work hard.. but do not let money become your idol.. for one can not serve two masters, but only one. If you have ever thought you were not good enough.. that you should be further than you are today, drop that thought. Today is the day where you embark on a journey towards complete excellence. Change your mindset. Renew your mind. Disconnect from the world, and focus on improving the areas of opportunity.

Much love,

Hyram
